My have a Ninja 250 2005model,
I have been riding it just fine.
I didn't ride it over the weekend, because of the chilly weather.
Today,(monday) I start up my bike in neutral. The bike started right up.
HOWEVER, when I was holding the clutch and shifted to first gear. My bike jerked and died.
I tried to roll the bike with the clutch being held, but I can't.
It is obviously still in gear.
I play around for those adjustable nods both on the handle and the one next to the engine.
I don't see anything wrong with it. They are both have a 2-3inchs gap. i think.
What else could cause that?
Give me some ideas.
ALl in puts welcome!
Thanks!

Okay
I have a 2000 Yamaha blaster
I put some new oil in the reservoir. Now it takes forever to start it and when it does and you hit the gas a little it stalls out. If I get it going a little bit I cant go very fast at all before it boggs down and stalls. I took the old spark plug out and put a new NKG one in it. It ran perfect, for about 50ft. Now its doing the same thing.

Is it because the plug is getting fouled out? also i think that I put too rich of oil in it and its fouling the plug out that way but I'm not sure. The air filter is clean and properly sealed if that helps any. Also if I am using to rich of oil, how might I go about draining it to put some better oil in it? (I ordered some Yamalube)

We know the differences between MCs and MCCs. Which suits you the best, and why?

Please don't respond if you're not a biker - I want opinions from people who know their subject, not from people after points...

Thanks for your opinions, ride safe!

I've got a motorcycle battery that's dried out completely. I can get hold of some acid to fill it but I'm not sure what type would be right. I've seen 35% sulphuric acid and some stuff called 1.270sg. Or do I just need some acid, any old sort.

Some people have told me stuff can't be purchased too. Are there proper suppliers or is this all a bit 'under the counter'.

In the service manual for my GSXR it says to turn the filter two full turns after initial contact... which is way more than you can do without the wrench. I usually just hand tighten the filters. Should I go out and buy a filter wrench?

I have a Bell GT2 full face helmet that I bought in 1987 for $225. There is nothing wrong with it except that the interior lining has dried out. All of the rubber, plastic and straps are in excellent condition. It has air vents and most of the features available in the newest helmets. It has never been in any sort of accident or impact. The paint is even in pretty good condition. I'm not cheap. I just hate to throw away something that can be used. I have additional newer helmets that match my bikes. This helmet doesn't match so I stopped wearing it. One of my friends has asked for it to use for off road (quad) riding. I don't want to give it to them if it's unsafe.

When idling at a light or stopping at a stop sign the bike may cut out, sometimes, or when taking off in 1st gear it's sluggish and seems to sputter. Once accelerating it's smooth and quick, but that's only after rpm's have gone above 4K. Once highway speed is reached and the throttle is eased back to maintain that speed - it sputters then too. So, it runs, just rough.

It's a 98 Suzuki GSX600F. When I go through the start-up sequence, the lights come on but it doesn't turn over. I let it sit for about 2 months without starting it (warm weather). I got a new battery and all the lights, the horn, and carb fan work when I turn the ignition to "on". The fuel is fresh, the starter relay clicks when tested. Last time I let it sit for a while, I'd push the starter button and it'd lag for a couple seconds before turning over. Any ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated.

It has done 43000 miles, i bought it 6 weeks ago. It runs great but makes a horrible knocking noise that i can also feel through the bars. I dont know when it last had an oil change or if that would make a difference. I know the timing chain makes a noise on these bikes. Should i ignore it or get it sorted? Minimal funds means i cant get a complete overhaul on the engine. Any help would be gratefully received.

I just bought a 1974 Honda CB 550 four. It needs some minor work. Do any of you guys know someone in Chicago who is specialized in these bikes? Who do you reccomend? I love the bike and I really want the work that I can not do done right.
It needs a tune up and cleaned carbs.

Thanks so much guys, you Honda techs have really helped me out a ton with all my questions. As a rookie your advice has been extremely valuable to me. Thanks.

I just bought this 1974 Honda CB550. I have hardly any tools for it. What do need to get? I hear you need a specific wratchet set to work on these, I'm not shure if it was metric or what. If you know of a set that would be good let me know.

Thanks,

Ed
