i have a 98 bandit running lean and hot it has a lot of power up to a certain rpm then almost conks out then after that for the rest of the rpms it is fine. How can i fix the problem i heard somthing about new pilot jets. would that fix the problem, and could i do this myself. Thanks

your timing is to far advanced.Retard the timing and things will return to normal.If you have bored the cyclinders to a larger size ,then you do certainly need to re- jet, the idle jet as well as the main jets.Run premium gas.

I'm guessing you have an aftermarket pipe on it?
You can richen up the mixture to a certain point witout having to re-jet. Try that first.

sounds like it needs to be re jetted, this shouldn't be a problem to do it yourself but would be better to get a shop with a rolling road to do it as they will put the correct jets in and it will then run perfect, but with jetting if you do it yourself then its all about trail and error to you get the perfect setup.

EDIT: buy a haynes manual, they are well worth the price and will save you alot of money in the future.
