Motorcycles - December 2006

Fuel is in the carb bowls. I opened the bowls, and a bit of gas came out, I am talking drops here. So SOME fuel has gotten in. I put a new battery in, after putting carb back on, and it cranked and cranked, maybe for minutes at a time (with many breaks). Finally gave up. Carb is on right. Bike was losing power for a while, eventually did not start. It has spark.

They're not. They cost much, much more to buy ,to insure, to maintain and to drive(premium gas only) And they're not as fast, as agile, as dependable, as reliable or as attractive as a Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki or Yamaha counterpart. Harley's are for one kind of person - SUCKERS.

I see other motorcycles that go twice as fast and look 5 times as awesome and they hardly make as much noise. Not only that, but I always see Harleys broken down on the side of the road.
What is the attraction? And why do I only see men over 50 ever riding them? Are they like the midlife-crisis porche equivalent for the dirty biker?

I replaced the vac. line to the petcock,cleaned out the strainer.But the problem doesn't go away.When the petcock position is changed the engine will only restart with full choke.The problem is worst if the tank gets low.Do I need to rebuild the petcock diaphram or the carbs(4)? It runs good while warming up but in shouldn't have to run long to warm up.

My dad and I were thinking of taking Route 66 on motorcycles from Chicago all the way out and then back again, as soon as I get my motorcycle license. Which motorcycle would you recommend for a beginning rider for this long ride. I know how to make repairs, fix minor problems and my dad knows the major stuff. He's got a 2000 Harley Electra-glide. Would a Harley be a good decision? it's the main/only brand I trust.

I have a 1981 Kawasaki CSR 305 that needs new piston rings. I have been told that Kawasaki no longer manufactures rings for this bike so I am trying to find some place that might still have them, or someone who might have advice on what I could do, or know of other parts that would work. I'd appreciate any help I could get!! Thanks!

I am buying a bike right now, and I have a choice between a barely used Ducati monster 620, or a new Kawasaki Ninja 650r.
