I am a Motorcycle, ATV and PWC technician who owns his own shop and some questions that I know the answers to I don't bother with because 6 people or so gave the guy B/S answers. Why?

You should be able to tell from what and how I answer. When I'm not sure, I make it a point to say so. If I give anyone any B.S., it's well identified as a big pile. Many times I don't give an answer because a good one has already been given. Sometimes it's yours, usually it's someone else's. No need to mention names, you should know who I'm talking about. I know this subject bothers you. It's not the first time it came up. Why not give a good answer with a gentle correction in it? I've done it. We can't fix everything, but we can try to help keep it from getting worse. Please don't deny them the benefit of your experience. Have you ever been on the CB radio? Here is the same thing, only worldwide. Complete with all the Dic*heads you could ever want.

P.S. I don't care about points. It's about interaction with people who like what I like.

I was shocked to get a Best Answer because I said I had a manual for a bike. I clearly said it was in a storage facility and had not seen it in years. Sometimes the asker will pick garbage over gold. There's no telling. When there's no gold, I guess they get garbage, right?

Some folks actually seem to at least THINK they know the answer (even if they clearly don't) and put their answer out there. At least they're trying to help. I'd give them more credit than these people who answer with this "push it off a cliff" crap. The idea here is to at least TRY to help each other . . . . .

There are far more important things than points.

Even more annoying to me are some of these ridiculous questions, "What car is the prettiest with blue paint" or "where is the fuel filter on a 2003 Mustang?" If you'd take a minute and do a little research, you'll KNOW where the fuel filter is! OR do as the rest of the responsible DIYers do and BUY THE MANUAL!

Not that I have an opinion about it or anything . . .

I am with you i see some of the dumbest stuff here you just have to wonder if they are really that dumb. A week ago I answered a question about a tranny problem and the number one idiot starts off by saying i own a repair shop and prceeds to tell the guy that his throttle cable is streched so thats his problem. I believe by the discription it was a torque conv. shudder. But the harley guys are the worst

That is a good question man! I hate it When someone ask's a question and I see people hassle or B/S them, C'mon what is that all about. They made straight question, why can't they get a straight answer, why with all the b/s!?!? Example Guy aks "How do I make my 03 Civic Faster" People answer "throw it off a cliff" - "get a mustang" - "sell it get a camaro". It just makes me mad when people can't contribute in a positive way. If you have a good answer, then go ahead, but if you just dont know, DONT ANSWER! When it comes down to it, It's all about the points. Stupid if you ask me.

Because everyone has to put their two cents in. I don't answer stuff if I have no idea. But then again, if you really wanted to help someone fix something, this isn't the place. There are forums for everything on the internet. I go onto roadstar forums once in awhile just for ideas.

if the person really wants to know the answers, and you know them, then be nice, give it to them. let them decide if they want to take it or not. as to the others, they may think they know it, some dont care and purposely give crappy/false answers, and others, something to do. shoot why not, someone may have a good point to make. depending on the question.. soooo, use your smarts, give the correct answer :)

so why dont you give the answer and tell them who you are and then they can be confident it is correct , why bother coming on here in the first place if that is your attitude
