I am buying a bike right now, and I have a choice between a barely used Ducati monster 620, or a new Kawasaki Ninja 650r. They are both about the same price, and I need to make my decision ASAP due to high demand for both of these bikes, which one should I choose? whats the better bike as far as comfort, handling, gas, FUN even, overall, what would you choose? somebody who knows that they are talking about somewht please.

For a reliable low maintenance bike with more horse power go with the Kawasaki.

For all other reasons go with a Ducati. What other reasons are there? Brand loyalty I guess.

I also have a couple days experience and have not personally bought into either one. That means I don’t hold allegiance to either.

I have ridden both and they are both fun to ride. I rode my friends Ducati Monster and pointed out it was burning oil the second week he owned it. He was not happy and he ended up getting the engine replaced. The maintenance on the Ducati was also expensive and ridiculous. Changing internal engine belts, what’s that about? It also require inspection after inspection adding up to more $$.

Jap bike maintenance = change oil.

After 6 month my friend had his Duc in the shop 4x. He had gotten better as a rider so I let him ride my bike. He sold the Duc the next week and now has a Suzuki.

This is really personal opinion. I like the look of the monster but I would go with the Kawi.

Have fun picking your bike!

I would personally go with the ninja. I have had several. They are easier to find parts for, the parts are less expensive, and nothing beats Japanese quality for anything automotive. Its an easy choice if the Ninja is new. FULL FACTORY WARRANTY vs. little or no warranty. Ducks are nice, but I'd ride a ninja first any day. I'm on my 3rd one and have had a few other bikes. I rode a monster before (a friend's bike) and have rode a few Buell's as well. They were nice, but I ALWAYS go back to the Suzukis and Kawasakis. I hope this helps.

The only other person who knows what hes talking about is frenzied...buy the Ninja. Kawasaki has a proven track record of reliability and state of the art technology ...all of that went into the 650 Ninja.
If you buy the Ducati, you'll be saddled with higher insurance premiums, and the reliability of Ducatis isn't near what it is with Kawasaki. Maintenance is MUCH more expensive on a Duck, too...and it has to be done more often.

But, it's your money. If it were mine, I'd buy the Ninja. And, you'll get better gas mileage and be able to go further with a tank of gas as well.

Good luck.

the kawi will have less maint. but the duc is a far cooler bike as far as comfort it is all what you are used too. If you want to blend in get the kawi there will be more after market stuff for the duc as well it will sound better too
and the dill hole that thinks the kawi has track time is wrong the 650 is a new design and its never been raced and ducati holds more world titles than any one

well if u want experoence im ur guy. so if you want the better bike its definitely the ducati, but if you get the ninja you will find parts for a lot cheaper. i would recommend the ducati if you are not very worried about money. the performance is much better and it will give you that kick when you need it

I have a Monster Dark 750 and love it, but if this is your first bike I would have to say go with the Kaw. Parts and service will be kinder to you, and if you take a spill you won't just hurt your body with the Duc. What ever you buy enjoy the ride!

the kawasaki is going to be better as fas as maintenance and finding parts... but it's a foofoo bike, all show no go.

Look into something a few years older... like a 2003 Suzuki SV650

now i love ducs, but they are so damn expensive with some loud *** clutches. kaw's are dependable.

so the question you must ask yourself is how deep are your pockets?

get the kaw if you plan to use the bike alot.
the duc if you are just a showoff with fat wads of cash.
