What options are there other than the subway? Are there shared vans or shared taxis? If so where/when can I pick them up in the morning?

Thanks so much.

I am being unreasonable? For the past 10 years I rode my bike to work 5-10 times a year, took it up the elevator and kept it in my office. Nobody ever complained. Last May I was leaving the building with my bike and I ran into one of the building owners who went off on me about the bike. The next workday I got a call from the building manager telling me bikes are not allowed in the building. There us a bike rack outside the building, but it's next to a major avenue and I don't think my bike will be safe there. My ride is about 20 miles each way so I ride a pretty nice ($$$) bike so bike safety is high on my list. It has been a year since this happened and I'm still fuming about it I can't believe that in this era of high fuel prices, unstable oil suppliers, and carbon buildup, people can be so backwards. Bringing a bike into the building doesn't cause any damage or unusual wear, so this seems arbitrary and idiotic to me. Am I out of line? Do you think this rule makes sense?

I'll be moving soon and won't have a car for a while. My husbands job takes him all around the East coast so I just have to pick a place to settle in. He does a lot of New Jersey (Parsippany) and New York work and goes down into Richmond, Baltimore and such. I love Boston too so I'm just trying to get a feel for what area is going to have the best public transportation so that I can get to a from work and/or school best.

I considered parkour(free running) but i will lug a heavy backpack around, and cannot ride a bus because its not a flexible form of transportation. Any suggestions as to waht I can do?

well i'm driving cross country from ny to ca. This isn't the first time I have driven cross country, due to the military. But the last time i drove I messed up my old mazda pretty bad. The car never ran normally ever again. So my question is how many hours at most should a car run per day without causing major damage? Thanks for any help, it's much appreciated.

I've heard that there will be a gas boycott on May 15th. Is anyone else participating?

I've wondered, what if instead of picking one day to to avoid purchasing gas, we picked one company to embargo for an entire week and organized ourselves that we would log in to one website and pick the gas station at the last minute. That way, no gas company could be prepared by reducing fuel supplies.

Would that work? What are your thoughts on this idea. Good and bad, would that work?

I get emails and SMS saying that if we don't buy gas on May 15th, big oil companies are going to lose billions of dollars, and they'll be force to drop gas prices for 30 cents. They say that this happened in '97. Is this true? If it is, I hope we all do it. These companies are making record profits. I'm surprised we haven't see more of an uproar from people regarding this.

For many people I know fuel prices are costing them a quarter to a third of their weekly income. They have no alternet way to get to work. So now they are falling behind in providing for their families. This is not the way to reach the American dream. Or is that only for the wealthy?

Why won't President Bush step in as President Kennedy did with the steel companies when they were in the same situation.
