90 mph, only because I wasn't paying attention to my speed. I think the national speed limit should be at least 70 mph, preferably 75 on interstates. Most people travel that anyway. I also think that the speed limit for big trucks should be the same as for cars because it causes too much variance in speed when the truck speed is less. Many states have a lower speed limit for trucks. I think the traffic moves much more smoothly when the speed limit is the same.

115 MPH in the WWW

of course a few months later i get pulled over doing 86 LOL thats life.

National speed limit should be no less than 70 MPH, leaving it up to the states to add speed per road. Truckers should be no less than 60 MPH-- since they do it anyways.

until the mid-1990's the federal speed limit was 55 MPH. It was largely ignored so they finally took it down. Currently they leave it up to each state. I think the fasted moving state is doing 80, and thats the north-east part of Texas.
For everyone reading this and is thinking about WY and the 'no speed limit', well they still gave tickets out. what stopped the 'no speed limit' was when a cop gave a ticket in 1996 to a person doing 80MPH in the middle of the day and it went to supreme court. the cop could still no provide what a true 'safe speed' might have been if 80 wasn't the answer.

150 mph a couple times.

the limit should be 75mph.

Many people are comfortable at higher speed than that but I think about people like my mother who could really get scared and stop driving.

Anyway, with all the concerns about reducing pollution, the faster the general population runs, the more gas it burns so the more pollution we generate.

An increase of 10 mph at highway speed makes a huge difference in gas consumption. I like speed a lot, but we have to consider this in the year 2000.

I topped out a 2007 shelby mustang at 185 on the autobahn, i think that the national speed limit should be 85, it isnt that fast and you are still in pretty good control of the car.

I, personally don't have a fast car. I have a 01 Chevy Blazer, but I have gotten a Cobalt SS to 120 mph before. And for the national speed limit, I'm not really sure?

90 MPH, I was on IH45 south of Corsicana on my way to Houston, and the speed limit is 80 MPH. I also think the national speed limit should be 85 MPH.

140mph. The speed limit should depend on the conditions of the highway. Some people can't handle 60 mph on the highway, so I'm reluctant to say to raise it. For the rest of us, I'd say like one other person said, 75-80mph.
