I get terrible road rage! I'm 8 months pregnant and I don't think it's a good idea for a mother to be driving like a madwoman with a baby in the car. What techniques do you use to keep your cool?

Cellular phones can help when the car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, let you calm worried family when you're late, help you help others in an emergency, and even save a life. Good things all; many benefits in daily use as well, but how in the world did we allow such a huge, ever-increasing percentage of the population to become completely brainwashed and hypnotically obsessed with using their cellphones as though extra points are earned by who uses the most minutes or send the most texts? Worse yet the trend has become strongly linked with driving. Do we secretly miss all those little metal & glass booths so badly we transferred fixation to cars; plentiful, compact, private boxes of glass and metal............ looking at it like that who could argue the resemblance?

Cellphones don't have to banned from roads or locked in trunks, but how's about displaying a little more self-control out there, huh?

Say you have 4 lanes to go in pretty hard core traffic. I was told 1 mile? But, at that rate I usually miss my exit because idiots don't let me in.

Usually, when I'm stuck in a turn lane, I politely put on my flasher and wait for someone to let me in the straight lane.

But, today, no one was polite. And, the people behind me in the turn lane were honking. So, I advanced and ended up stuck in the intersection.

Why can't people just be polite? It's pathetic how seriously some people take driving.

I see this nearly everyday on the Northern California freeways. It is pretty normal to find careless drivers. The problem gets worse during rush hour.

Question: A careless driver nearly hits your as he cuts into your lane on the busy (rush hour) freeway. The driver never notices the fact that he just cut you off. What is your reaction? Include your state or area of the country.

Mine was when I was driving down a street towards a highway on ramp that was in the right lane and on the left lane was straight only. There was a car in front of me and a car behind me. Just going along and then there was a white Toyota Sequoia too the left of me a little bit in front, but he wanted too get over but I was already past him by the time he put his blinker on. The man got upset with me for that because he had too wait because there were a few more cars behind me. I get on the freeway into the fast lane. The guy in the Sequoia got behind some slow moving cars finally makes it too the fast lane and at the point where there was some road construction he goes off there passes me and then decides that it would be fun too stop in the middle of the free way and this is a major free way too. So I have too stop and unfortunately there was too much traffic in the slow lane so I watched as this man starts yelling and screaming at me. Just glad he didn't have a gun.

I travel quite a bit to many different cities. I have noticed that every major city is ALWAYS conjested in creeping traffic for at least 2 hours in the morning and two hours in the evening.

The amount of wasted fuel and global warming must be stupendous. We are humans that have sent men to the moon, cured diseases, built enormous skyscrapers, etc.
Why can we not figure out how to diffuse traffic conjestion better, i.e., force companies to stagger work times other than 9 to 5? Or create forced carpooling for certain times? Is it our freedom that makes us slaves to traffic conjestion?
This just seems to be such a huge problem that should not be. Does anybody have any good ideas?

I just moved back to a fairly big city (Portland, Oregon), and I'm starting my senior year as a transfer student at Portland State. I live in the SE part of town, and the university is located in SW or downtown. It takes about a half an hour to drive and park on campus, and a little over an hour for public transit. It would also cost me about $150 to either get a parking permit or a bus pass. So, since I can only afford one, which route should I go? Thanks!

I am fuming. I was standing waiting to cross the road when a bus pulled upto park, he wasn't picking up passengers he just parked the f***ing thing. I don't normally confront people but this was dangerous as he had blocked my vision so i couldn't see the cars coming behind him, when i asked him "how the hell am i supposed to cross the road now" he told me to go and find a pelican crossing, so i told him to p*** off. i don't feel very proud of myself for loosing my temper but i did feel like hitting him. I am still shaking with the rage. Now i am going to report him but what good will that do?

Every weekday I drive to school and while pulling into the parking lot from the road, must make a right turn. The problem is that I can never seem to turn into the lot with out my back right tire hitting the curb. I have to stay kinda close to the right of the parking lot entrance to avoid hitting any cars exiting the parking lot. Is this bad for my tires??

that they need not sit in the outside or middle lane and to pull over to the left.................Is it because they do not realise they are in the wrong sitting in the outside lanes? I think this is the politest way to remind someone to move over as opposed to honking your horn

Let's say hypothetically, we all weren't able to use our cars for a week in order to reduce pollution and congestion on the roads, but were able to use public transit systems, bike, or walk. How would this effect you and your daily routine? Would you still be able to go about your week normally?

It drives me nuts when people are breaking traffic laws and being rude as hell all around you, then honk and gesture at YOU as if you're the one doing something wrong!
Luckily for them I leave my gun at home, haha.
