Hi all, I currently own a 1993 Volvo 940 with 137,000 miles and a 1998 Volvo V70XC with 134,000 miles. My grandfather is cancelling his drivers' license and wants to give us a loaded (even the digital dash) 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Bayshore with only 65,000 miles and no major repairs ever. I absolutely love this car, but my wife isn't so sold.

We can also only afford to own two cars; it wouldn't be economically practical for us to own three with only two drivers. Their gas mileage is all about equal; so is the insurance cost. My question is: Should I take the Mercury? If so, which Volvo should I get rid of? The V70 has insanely high repair bills but, it is a wagon, so it's good for occasional trips. The 940 is my wife's favorite, and is essentially bulletproof -- no major repairs ever. The Mercury is one of my favorite cars of all time, plus it's soooo comfortable and repairs (if we ever need them) are generally cheap.

So...again...Which TWO should stay?

The hose appears to be connected to nothing (the end near the battery), but it may have been disconnected accidentally. Should it be connected to something?

itz got 2 fuse boxs one is under the hood and the other one is on the saide of the nash ..but the on inside only got number beside of the fuse........

im having 2 problems with it right now...

1. yesterday we filled up and while we were driving home, i look at where it shows how much i have in it and it shows this ------ and i look and the orange light is on and the stick is allll the way on E. everything else on the dash is working fine. so then i look back and its showing the numbers and its on F. Thats the first time i seen it do that and it would go to E then about 5 minutes later be on F.

2. while i was driving home i would hear things in the rear like a ratteling sound and it would go and come....mainly when we were going slow or on bumps...

can someone help me cause tomorrow i plan on taking a 6 hour trip to jersey but i dont want to leave if this is something serious!

I have a couple of questions. The automatic transmission is having problems shifting into either 2nd or 3rd gear. The "check transmission" light is on, and the "O/D Off" light is flashing on the control panel. If I take it easy on the gas, is it ok to drive it to the dealer, which is about 10-15 miles away? Has anyone else had problems with their 2002 Mountaineer's transmission?

My hubby said his boss just bought his wiffe a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer for his wife at an auction. It was a repo and only has 27,000 miles on it. His boss bought it for 11,000 cash. My hubby and his boss word for NE Auto Auction so they know all about cars and all that jazz. Obviously it was a great deal. The only thing is she doesnt want it b/c she wants a Tahoe. So as my hubby and I are looking for a SUV we said we will buy it from you. Right now I have a 04 Pontiac Sunfire with 58,000 Miles on it. Should i trade it in for the Mercury? What are your thoughts with this SUV?

I took it to the dealership and they said I needed new spark plug wires, they were going to clean my intake manifold out with some kind of injection cleaner for intakes, and they said they needed to recalibrate the computer. So, I just changed the wires and plugs myself and it was fine for about 2 weeks, then it started doing it again. Does the computer really need to be recalibrated? If so, Why? Is there anything else that could be wrong? Maybe the trans?

My 95 Stable ( 3.0 engine ) sometimes won't start ( No electrical power at all ; interia lights don't even go on untill it's jump started !! ) but after it's jump started it'll start fine untill the next time. I've cleaned the battery terminals but that did'nt seem to help. The battery was working fine in the auto I took it out of. To my way of thinking if it starts with a jump all the time then the problem would point to the battery which I know is good.
