I took it to the dealership and they said I needed new spark plug wires, they were going to clean my intake manifold out with some kind of injection cleaner for intakes, and they said they needed to recalibrate the computer. So, I just changed the wires and plugs myself and it was fine for about 2 weeks, then it started doing it again. Does the computer really need to be recalibrated? If so, Why? Is there anything else that could be wrong? Maybe the trans?

Replace your fuel filter and use a good injector cleaner, like Berryman's, for at least two tanks. If this doesn't help, take it to a different mechanic. If he says the same thing as the first, you may need to try it.

Deffinatly replace your fuel filter. If you did by chance run your car low on gas it may vary well have sucked up dirt. on that case there is also a filter located on your fuel pump inside the gas take. Try using the injector cleaner as suggested above. It may even help to burn a higher octain. Something a lot of people are not aware of as well is when replaceing plug wires, it is ok to bend them when they are new, but once on and the car is turned over the wires should never be bent. bending them can cause a break in the wire. this will cause resistance to build up and reduce your spark. A good recomendation is to look up the specs for your vehicle on what plugs and wires are best to be used.

The computer can be reprogrammed, but I don't think it will cure the sputtering. If you changed the wires and plugs and it ran good I would pull each plug and check for a problem with a cylinder.

Could be dirt in the gas line. Do you ever let the gas level get to 1/4 full or less? If you do, you'll suck dirt from the bottom of the tank into the line.
