No they will not fit. Even if you went as far as low profile tires the wheels will not clear the fenderwells, plus you couldn't turn the front wheels to steer the car as the wheels would be constantly rubbing the fenderwells and inside engine splash guards.

In theory, yes. If you were starting with 215/75/15 tires, you keep the width the same (215) and make the profile (75) decrease by 5 for every inch larger rims you want. So, 215/40/22 would be the same width and overall diameter as stock 215/75/15 tires, but you would have more rim with less tire. If you wanted to make the tires wider, you can take 5 out of the profile and add 10 to the tread width. You would have 225/35/22 tires. The tires would keep their overall diameter as stock. The trouble with this is the tiny profile of the tires. They tend to become fragile when hitting hard bumps when very low profile. Also, if you make your tires too wide, they will rub the wheel wells. I would recommend not trying 22 inch rims just because the tires will be of such low profile, but I think it could be done.

Some people used to criticize 4 wheel drive monster trucks...calling them unsafe and what not....the Euros have been putting 19 to 20 inches on cars long before Hip Hop heads caught on...I see alot of closed mindedness and ignorrance...just like having 10 or 11 inch wide tires in back of a muscle car...or having air ride/ hydrualics....in the 50;s, duece coupes and chopped up Mercs were looked down on....now it's part of American Automotive history...the pro style modifications...huge rims, upgraded suspension, metallic paint jobs...lambo or suicide doors, tV's in the headrest, neon in the trunk and under the body....it's a another aspect of the car game...I've seen 22's on the Grand Marquis...you're going have to get it custom fitted and jacked up ...that means raising the suspension...I would get Air Ride ,or get aftermarket coil overs, strut bars, and sway bars...upgrade your brakes...if you want to ride big..you gotta spend big!
