The hose appears to be connected to nothing (the end near the battery), but it may have been disconnected accidentally. Should it be connected to something?

not enoulf info is it a large hose that goes to the intake if yes that maybe where it ends snall hose that goes to the trans its a breathe its ok is it a vent to keep the battery cool ??

any deacent mechanic will tell you for free if you swing it by and ask nicely :D)

check if it is a small hose with a bend at one end , next at transmission top for a small tube in same area which is a breather for transmission if this is of any help if not more info would help is your car engine racing ?

its not suppose to be connected to anything...the cougars factory battery tends to leak...its a safety thing to make sure it doesnt get on anything...i think my dad ripped mine off lol

its just a drain for when you wash your battery off, keeps the acid from getting all over :)
