My 95 Stable ( 3.0 engine ) sometimes won't start ( No electrical power at all ; interia lights don't even go on untill it's jump started !! ) but after it's jump started it'll start fine untill the next time. I've cleaned the battery terminals but that did'nt seem to help. The battery was working fine in the auto I took it out of. To my way of thinking if it starts with a jump all the time then the problem would point to the battery which I know is good.

Take the battery to a battery shop near you and have a load test put on it. If everything works after boosting off, the only thing left is the battery.

how long does it have to set before it wont start? an hour or overnight? If you are talking overnight, there might be a drain running the battery down after it sets for a while. by the way it is very hard on your alternator to just jump start a car and expect the alternator to recharge a dead battery. If the battery is completely run down a battery charger should be used and depending on the size of the battery at ten amp charge rate it could take 24 hour to bring the battery specific gravity back to a full charge.

Not all batteries are rated the same.If it runs after being jumped that means your alternator and regulator are working.Have it check out at one of the local automotive distributors they will do it for free.

How you "know" the battery from the donor vehicle is "good"? Have you had it load tested? I would purchase a NEW battery. What is the amperage rating of YOUR vehicle, and vehicle you "borrowed" the battery from?

You might want to have the voltage regulator checked. I had a Taurus and the regulator went bad on it.
