Okay, I have a 307 motor from a 1970 El Camino. First, are the heads from a 350 and a 307 the same, as in bolt up to each other(will alot of parts interchange, headers, intake, distributor, etc.)? Whats a good way to build up the 307 motor to get good power (I would like at least 300 horse) with it still being able to run on 87-octane, and be driven everyday? I know alot of guys say the 307's aren't worth much, but I am a poor college student, and so for now, I'm just doing what I can.

Last year I attended Rev it up Racing that was presented by Chevy.

I paid $50.00 to test drive all the new up coming 2007 Chevy cars (Cobalt, Monte Carlo, Impala, Corvette, Malibu, etc). You were actually able to really let loose on them (accelerating out of the block and braking hard). It was alot of fun.

I also got to attend some racing classes on improving our racing techniques for my 2 races. I then was able to race against other drivers with a supercharged Cobalt. It was a lot of fun.

Now my question is, Is there anything like that for any other car makes? Maybe like for Pontiac or Dodge?

I really enjoyed myself there and found it to be very interesting. If anyone has any information regarding anyother events like this please let me know.

Or if you want any information about this Rev it up Racing let me know also.

Thanks

I am looking at a 1500 silverado with a Z-71 package. It is a 2003 model with 67,000 on it. Fully loaded LT. I pulled the dipstick and could smell a faint odor of gas on in the oil. The tail pipe show black soot in the pipe. The engine is a 350 vortex. Any help here would be nice. I am looking to buy this truck from a dealer.

that will only shift into reverse. The shift lever stops dead if you try to put into nuetral or drive. Any suggestions as to what's wrong would be appreciated.

Is there any way to check the linkages without raising the car up?
