like the refrigerator light, theres a switch in the latch. How would you know its staying on? I'd just take out the bulb if there was a concern.

The glove box switch is either part of the latch assembly or has a plunger contact that will contact a part of the door that closes. If you suspect the light staying on all the time, remove the bulb or the switch to see if that is the case. Good luck.

somewhere on the frame of the door of the glove box you'll find a button. When its depressed by the door it turns the light off. Try it by opening up the glove box then pushing the button with your finger. The light should go off.

just look for the plunger and push it in when you have the glove box open if the light goes out than the switch is fine.
