I have seen these cars and they look like every other 80's car so what makes them so special?

It was GM's second attempt at a model run of this size to compete with the imports (the first group being the early sixties). The X series run in the GM models (Chevrolet Citation, Pontiac, Olds, and Buick) offered front wheel drive transversed engines, uni-bodied construction, hatch back models, fuel injection on the four cylinder models, plus the luxury items offered of the big cars. The Citation XR-611 was the GT model for its time like the Subaru WRX/STI and Mitsubishi of today.

There was nothing special at all about them.
No wonder peple started buying Hondas and Toyotas.
The 80s weren't the best years for GM. Or Ford or Chrysler for that matter.
The quality started going up in the early 90s.

If I remember correctly,they were supposed to be the "sport" model.I think the best thing about them is the fact they stopped making them.
