I have a 14 ft aluminum with a 9.9 motor. The front end sits sooooo far outta the water making sterring a little tricky. I already have my anchor in the bow, can I put some additional weights, or would I be risking quick sink and steering ability?

i am looking for a new boat but i cant decide between aluminum and fiberglass, i will be launching the boat in shallow water off a beach and i will probably be beaching it alot, i also need a safe and verry stable boat that is relatively light and easy to launch in shallow water. let me kow what pros and cons u have experienced with ur boats.

I'm thinking of buying a used jet boat but I want to know if there are signs that it has been used in salt water instead of fresh water. Are there telltale signs that would indicate such use9i.e. a certain type of corrosion or corrosion in certain places?)

Thanks

I had my anchor hang up yesterday while on the lake and had to cut it loose. I'm wondering what is the best replacement type. My boat is a 22' bowrider, approx weight is 4500 lbs. and generally I am anchoring in 6-20' of water with either a mud/rock or sand bottom. The lake we frequent with the sand bottom has waves to 3' and winds to 15kt occasionally (Tahoe). The lake with the mud bottom is much calmer but anchor points are usually deeper.

I've been looking at a self releasing Chene anchor. Am I way off?

i have an old model clinton engine corp. boat motor, im not really for sure what the year is, but i have all the numbers on it still. the problem is funny, we had it started last night, it ran sluggishly for like 30 minutes. but when we bypassed the filter thing, now it wont even try to start. we have tried everything from different choke settings to the rich/lean knob. we also cleaned the sparkplug. any ideas?

I'm thinking of changing my 3 blade aluminum propeller to a 3 or 4 blade stainless steel propeller.
Should I change the pitch or keep the same pitch as the aluminum?
They claim that stainless cuts through the water much easier than aluminum - this makes me wonder about the pitch - Should I lower the pitch or add some pitch?

Now I have taken the motor to the nearest marina and had the lower unit checked. The mechanic actually put the pressure tester on the lower unit and waited. The lower unit remain constant. He claims there is nothing wrong.
Yet when I empty the lower unit to change the oil - half is water and the other half is oil.

Thinking of bringing the motor to another Marina.

Any suggestions on what is wrong?
