Check carefully on the engine for a plate specifying the mix, or if you have an original fuel tank, on the cap or top of the tank. 50:1 sounds right, but it doesn't hurt to check first. If you use a good quality synthetic oil, you can get away with a leaner mix than what was originally required.

You should use at least a 2% mixture. (98% gas/2% oil)

Some older models has a recommended mixture of 2,5%. It wouldn't hurt your engine using 2,5.

(2% equals 1:50 - 2,5% equals 1:40)
