I have to fly to San Diego, CA from Philadelphia, PA in August. The closer I get to my trip the more uneasy I feel. I have flown before, twice to Orlando, Fl and three times to Atlanta, GA. However since 911 I have been afraid to fly and I wasn't that comfortable with it to begin with. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

You know when you're going down the road in Arkansas and you pass another vehicle. They always wave or nod.
I'm curious to know if airline pilots do the same thing when they pass each other at 30,000 ft.

I would really love to learn how to fly and one of great friends has two planes and is willing to start me off and get a feel for flying but I would rather have a liscensed trainer teach me.

Where are some places, websites, or trainers in the bay area that can teach me how to fly and roughly how long does it take to learn until I am liscensed.

I have heard radio commercials saying that there is a need for helicopter pilots. I have worked around helicopter for several years (wildland firefighting) and have a basic understanding of them. I would like to know about the pros and cons of such a career.

There are already two airlines in Europe testing full cellphone services on passenger aircraft. Various airlines around the world are now considering the same service. The FAA and other agencies are still in the process of working out the bugs so that passengers can use all the features of their phones to make and receive calls. Cell phones, as is well known, are used by terrorists as remote triggers to detonate bombds -- used in Madrid in 2004, and almost daily in Iraq, Afghanistan etc to detonate IEDs.

So, what is being done to make sure, absolutely, that no terrorist can ever use a cell phone to detonate a bomb on a plane?

I saw a news report that airlines don't tell you that a Q-Up, Y-Up, or Z-up fare class is a first class fare at a coach price. Anyone know how to find these on the airline web sites?
