the etc light comes on and the car won,t shift out of ist gear after turn the car off a few times computer puts lights off and its find until i come to a stop or after it sitting awhile

take it to a shop and have them pull codes....if its a tranny code take to tranny shop if its an engine code take to engine shop.....this is definitely not the right place to ask for help with cars.....trust me I fix cars all day....and unless I physically see or drive the car I can't give a good diag.....not only that there are tons of young kids on here that don't know *** from hole in wall and will say dumb stuff like maybe you have a flat tire...do you have gas? so on and so forth.

Map sensor. Locate it. Replace it. Been there. Done that. Not fun.
