Hi, this is kind of a bizarre question, but here goes...

I want to make a propeller that will lift a person (roughly 150-200 lbs plus the engine) five feet into the air. How big would the propeller have to be, and how big/heavy would the engine have to be? Any help is appreciated.

I mean.... of all of them.
Pretty sure the Spitfire is going to win, but there are some that never get mentioned. esp twin engine types .
Partial to radial engine types & anything w/ a Merlin in it.
Jets don't count though the ME 262 was cool.
Would like to see what comes in 2nd.

Does Cessna make the fastest high-wing propeller (light aircraft) plane, or is there others available. I am interested in one that will cruse at close to 200 knots, but capable of taking off and landing on short, soft landing strips.

I was wondering if there was any rule against it. I figured there was, but I thought I'd better ask. Also, if you can shadow, does anyone know by of someone to shadow in the Omaha/Lincoln/Kansas City/Des Moines area?

well this goes back to my flight back last year when even though the active runway is 24 (24/06) Cebu Pacific (cheapest airline) usually takes off at runway 13 under runway designation (13/31)

I'm not necessarily looking to sign up for a full set of flight lessons, but maybe just try out one day with an instructor. Does anyone know of companies that offer something like this? Or better yet, done it yourself? Thanks!

You are in an aircraft (private) with 2 on board, one has a heart attack, and has to be on deck ASAP, how is it determined by ATC who gets priority if there is an A319 with engine out MayDay. Do they look at "who was first" to clear the approach, or is it by the size, crew+passenger #?

1st. If you put a more efficent, higher power engine on an existing airframe, does the Vne speed increase? I know the Vne is based on the airframe, but if you add an engine of equal or lesser weight, and it puts out more power, would not the Vne be adjusted for the new power plant?
2. If you are rotating off the deck, and you are airborne and the gear does NOT retract, what are your options? ( I have actually not seen this asked) do you merely enter the landing pattern, or can you continue to your destination and re-cycle the gear on the way? Oh and to make it harder, what if you only get two green lights and one red? but the tower states "looks like they are all retracted"?
Your next move?
Hey, got to keep you all interested, and I have 10 sick kids in the rear, that need to get to the only hospital at the end of this flight..and CNN is on board. (filming)... and the doctor ate the fish..

When I first started asking questions, I got all kinds of great responses, on everything from airliners having laminar flow wing (impractible) to WIG transports (good idea, won't work) to Vne speeds and how they are arrived at (Great explanations) and excellent answers from experienced Commerical, Private and Military (including active c-17 pilots) members of the Avaition field, that (indirectly) pushed me to resuming my efforts to become a pilot, where did you all go to?
