I'm not necessarily looking to sign up for a full set of flight lessons, but maybe just try out one day with an instructor. Does anyone know of companies that offer something like this? Or better yet, done it yourself? Thanks!

Anyone can take a lesson at any time... it is called an intro flight... go to a smaller airport around the Boston area and I'm sure you will find an FBO that offers flight training... the intro flights are usually pretty cheap as well...

Go to the following site, it offers a coupon for an introductory flight (I believe $99 or less) Many flight schools across the nation will honor it. On; the site you can search fro a school in your area as well.
I truly hope you dont expect to learn how to fly in one day, but just want to have some fun.

Almost any flight training school offers a familiarization flight. I know my dad went on a couple at different schools when he was thinking of learning to fly. And I got a helicopter lesson for my 16th birthday.

The are plenty of flight schools around that you can take a introductory flight. There is one school that is south of Boston located at Plymouth Airport (KPYM), Alpha One Flight School.

Here are some options:
Beverly Flight Center, Beverly (BVY)
Eagle East or Four Star at Lawrence (LWM)
Alpha One, Plymouth (PYM)

not sure if there are any at Bedford or Norwood but it's worth a try.

Ask for an introductory or discovery flight.

Try Executive Flyers in Bedford – (Hanscom). One of the best airshow pilots in the world – Mike Goulian is associated with the school. They have a ‘Discovery flight’ for $99.
