When I first started asking questions, I got all kinds of great responses, on everything from airliners having laminar flow wing (impractible) to WIG transports (good idea, won't work) to Vne speeds and how they are arrived at (Great explanations) and excellent answers from experienced Commerical, Private and Military (including active c-17 pilots) members of the Avaition field, that (indirectly) pushed me to resuming my efforts to become a pilot, where did you all go to?

I'm with Jet Doc and Kevin. I have 21+ years in aviation, mostly in commercial aircraft maintenance, leasing and transfers. I enjoy helping people here with legitimate questions, but these same stupid questions begin to wear on your nerves as do the people answering simply to get points (usually with a completely ignorant or smart-a$$ answer).

Ask legitimate questions and you're bound to get a few stupid answers, but, from what I've seen, the pro's usually step up and help.

I suppose the folks who are tired of answering the same questions over and over should move on to another subject area or just quit altogether. After all, nobody is forcing them to answer anything. Besides, this is an arena where people are supposed to ask questions and the supposed experts are there to answer them. Maybe after amassing thousands of points they have forgotten the basic reason this forum exists.

So, Gregva20, just ask the questions. Though, if you're in flight training now, your instructor should be your primary source of information because he is following a prescribed course of instruction and it may not be the best idea to get too far ahead of yourself. Curiousity is great, but take your time and master the things you're supposed to be learning first.

Maybe they all got tired of answering the same STUPID questions 4,000,000,000 times...

Why no parachutes in airliners? Can I still become a pilot if I'm totally blind? How to get a pilot's license? What does it pay? How do airplanes fly?

A person's patience only lasts so long.

It's the silly questions that turn some people away, and as others have mentioned the repeat questions. I'll go so far as to say the poorly written or incomplete questions clog up the system as well.

the experts are still here, but when one answers the same questions over and over again, they get tired of it. dont be discouraged though as that is the only way to learn anything.

my favorite question.. why do kamikaze pilots wear helmets.. nobody seems to understand that when they ask a question to check if its already been asked.. plus everyone thinks their question is unique.. so whether its been asked or not, the person is gonna ask their "unique" question anyway..

Too many dumb questions by people who think they are being clever and too many credible idiots poluting the answer pool with garbage. "No, planes can't land themselves" AAARGH, not again!
