it was keiko the killer whale. it was flown aboard a U.S.A.F. C-17 globemaster III. keiko weighed in at 8200pounds but
with support equipment,the tank he was in, 2000pounds of
herring for inflight snacks,and handlers the total onboard weight was 80,000 pounds.

I'm pretty sure the largest animal transported alive on an airplane was a whale shark measuring 14 feet long weighing around 14 tons. Elephants are routinely transported by air but they weigh between 3.5 to 5 tons.
