How easy its it for a plane to disappear like the missing plane in Indonesia. What kind factors contribute to this sort of thing. Its missing and they don't know where. What makes them so certain it crashed. I'm not saying this is terrorism but the plane is missing and and there seems to be no confirmation of what might have happened other than distress signals. It just seems they are working completely in the dark and I'm just wonderign is it easy for this thing ot happen.

33,000 feet? I would assume that the planes have boosters since there is no relay tower between them and the ground towers.

I undestand that they operate on the principle of compression- the vanes compress air, fuel is injected and ignited = boom. My question is this- water is incompressible, so how does a heavy rain affect a jet engine?

Did a plane really crash into the pentagon? Wouldn't the family members of the people who where in the plane know that flight 77 crashed? Because they would know that there famly members are dead and they took that flight. Wouldn't they? I mean the plane wouldn't just dissapear, it to go somewhere, but where else?

As a pilot, have you seen a change in the nature of jet contrails over the past 30 - 40 years?

Please comment.

Please tell me if these statements are true or false and support your answer.

- the definition (dictionary definition) of pilot is outdated and has no
bearing on what the term pilot implies in today's real world

- The majority of people associate the word pilot with aviation. The
connotation of the word has changed. It is borderline fraudulent and misleading for anyone besides an aircraft pilot to refer to themselves as pilots.

I was taking a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. The aircraft JL722 flew south and make a 360 degrees banking turn over the island of Batam to line itself up for landing approx 18 miles away. The plane is low enough below cloud level for me to see streets lighting below. I saw something flew directly below me. The speed suggests an aircraft flying in the opposite direction. Its too far below to pose any real danger. But I can't help feeling if safety rules has been breached. Any comments?

I've heard a story from a former American Airlines mechanic, who worked at LaGuardia, that an old locomotive was buried, as part of a landfill / dump, beneath one of the airport's runways. Apparently this locomotive, due to its size and the amount of iron, could cause interference with compass headings.

Flying really interests me...but I'm not sure I want to make it my whole lifetime career. Is there any way I could do that and maybe have another job? And what requirements are there, and how long is training?
