Take an intro flight at your local flight school. It costs about 45 dollars and you will be able to fly the plane with an instructor. Give it a try! It is a long process, with many steps, but you will know early on if it feels right for you. Don't wait too long. Airline pilots have a mandatory retirement age of 60. You could be a pilot just for the fun of it, or as part of another career. If you travel around a lot, often without much lead time, it might make sense to get your private license for business travel. I know an engineer who flies himself to all kinds of jobs and meetings.

When you're in flight training, you have to have another job, or someone supporting you. It's expensive, can be time consuming, and once you have the license, it can take years to get a job. Airplanes are a little more enriching than helicopters, but it still takes time.
For me, it was 6 months to get my commercial rating, 5 years to where I thought I could make a living at it.

You should go for a trial lesson first from your nearest airport to see if you like it. After that you can decide were you want to go. Hope this helps. I was afraid of flying but it isent all that bad. Good luck

Go down to your local small airport and talk to someone. I did. I flew a plane it was awesome I took off and made maneuvers. I did not land yet. I am holding off now because lessons are $100 to $200 and hour but worth it.

Throttle up, roll down the runway some and pull back on the control yolk. You'll either become a pilot or...........

????????????????? if you become a pilot, you cant even think about doing any other job because its just too difficult to do that. And if you just become a pilot, the wages you will be getting will blow your mind up. so think about it.
