So me and my ex are not together and my son stays with her and i get him 3 days a week. Well she has no job and the people she lives with are not related to my son. Last year she just had her mother do it(whom my son did not even live with)

Is it true that you switch every year on who claims the child? Also I was thinking if I was to do it, I would have my mother file because I only have been working for a month this year(im on ssd).

Can me or my mom get into trouble for doing this? I mean I heard that if your not related to the child you can't even claim him anyways..Oh and I asked her a few months ago and she said she will think about it but she plays game and I doubt she will sign any type of form. So I was thinking of just doing it anyways and telling her. Tips?

Would I be able to write off a portion of this trip, as I already have three appointments planned while over there? Also, what is the percentage of the trip that I could claim on a 5 day getaway if about 2 of those days will be business related?

Ok so I'm in big debt and I needed cash so I sold my Macbook pro...that alone sold for 1400 my Playstation 3 my nintendo wii ect ect ect...
pretty much I made 5k, I don't work I just go to college full time.

I was wondering since I'm doing my financial aid again if I should mention that...should I? I mean I don't have anything to sell anymore and what I sold was mine so I don't think I should give the government my money from what I bought and payed tax also. would they notice if I don't?

sorry I'm 19 no idea on tax yet.

I usually file around Feb 5 -- as soon as I get my W-2 form form my employer and since I'm well below the AMT tax income threshold, I was wondering how I might be affected?

I do have some deductions however, that seem to bring my AGI to around $4K.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I currently live in NH with a friend. My friend owns the condo we live in. In May of 2006 I purchased a brand new home in Florida with the idea of me moving there. Family circumstances changed and I never moved but still bought the house. Basically I have had the house in FL ( only going down there 3x since (empty house but being taken care of) and have been paying my mortgage..etc since May 2006. Is there any way of me claiming anything on my taxes?? or deductions?? mort. interest etc.. I am now planning on selling it...what will happen to me tax wise?? again I have owned this since May 2006- never lived there just paying the mortgage..etc. Any ideas for me...what are the facts for me with filing my tax return? I filed my taxes last year and did not include anything about this house...please help any info and tax advice..THANK YOU!!

Not exactly sure what they mean by the 10 weeks delay?

10 weeks from April 15 deadline? Then as long as I file well before that April 15 deadline I might be able to get it soon (the normal 3-4 weeks) after filing?

The house has been in my family for two generations (I don't know if that makes a difference).

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, and if I missed any "key info" above, please answer me with what I missed and I'll try to add it in.

Thanks again!

problem is my husband was on salary, My husband never signed a 1099 with the company. So we just got a letter from the irs saying we have to pay taxes on almost 12,000 and if we don't pay by this date we will be fined even more etc. What is the best way to handle it with the IRS, isn't that tax fraud, what they are trying.. well what they did? Any help or suggestions will be received with appreciation.

I just found my w-2's from 2005, and I still have all of them. I don't owe any taxes, but I would be entitled to a return. Is there any way that I can check back to see if I did infact forget to file them in 2005, or any other year? Maybe on the IRS website? And if I can't find that out, would I probably be fined for trying to file them twice?

It really seems to me to be a no brainer - we should scrap our current tax system and adopt the fair tax, which, if you don't know about it, is simply a consumption tax. Imagine being paid your ENTIRE paycheck every week, or however often you are paid, and only paying taxes when you consume ? If you want to hold onto more of your money, then you simply cut back on your consumption. The fair tax will accomplish what the dems want.....taking more money from the wealthy - they buy bigger, more expensive toys. What do you think ?
