I am helping a friend fill their tax return, but neither of us can answer the following question, any help much appreciated:

Should a Spanish citizen on a H1B visa who moved to the US in December last year and received a full month's salary from their US company declare foreign income? Before moving here, my friend was working in the UK and had never lived in the US before. Should they declare the money they made in the UK? Or should they just say that they do not have foreign income, since they were already taxed there?

Thank you very much!

I bought first property for $119,000 in September of 2005 and the second property for $127,000 in January of 2006. When I used tax filing software to do my taxes for 2005 and again for 2006,the software indicated that I had zero depreciation for both years. What am I doing wrong. It too late to do anything about last year taxes, but I have not filed my 2006 return as yet. I was told by people with investment propert that I could claim depreciation as soon as the houses became marketable. Is there a mistake that I made or is the mistake with the software?

My husband was arressted and charged with domestic battery. We didn't get our taxes done yet. I was wondering if I can go ahead and file them even tho there is a no contact order in effect, or it would be better for me to file seperately, or what...... just some FYI....he left me without a dime (literally) So, which ever way will get me the biggest return. We had our own business - but everything except the big truck - is in his name. HELP!!!!
