Hello, an agent prepared my taxes two weeks ago. They dont do small business taxes. So i went and purchased turbotax home and business. Filled in my schedule C, but I needed to do my regular 1099, i guess it's protocol. Anyhow, sales for 06 for my business was only $254, is this usually how filing business taxes work, a 1099 with a schedule C seperate from the regular W2 type tax for your job. Is it ok how I filed it?

If this is money that I had to claim as made and I made a home improvement I don't understand why it is not a tax deduction!

Just wondering: When someone is given one of the reality-show furnished homes, who is liable for what kind of taxes on the property and furnishings? What about Habitat for Humanity homes? If taxed, are there tax credits on the labor?

Then company went public stock shot up I held onto shares for more than a year and sold some at $30 per share. The initial Public Offering price on stock was $19 per share my question is do I have to claim a gain of $29 per share or $11 per share? I bought when company was privately held so shouldn't my basis be the FMV of the stock when it was first available to the public? I know Uncle Sam will get theirs I just don't want to give them more. It was 100,000 shares sold

A former inmate of the California state prison states that he worked while in prison and needed to file 3 years of back taxes but doesn't have any W-2's. He explained to me what form is needed, form 4852, but it has the same questions as a regular W-2; like any federal and state taxes withheld, etc. He did let me know that he was making minium wage while incarcerated. I need a little more information so that I can help this person

I have a right to know where my money is going but he blows me off . I have never received a paystub and I think I am being cheated money. At the end of the year I receive a W2 but I will never know if it is correct. Please help me - who can I notify to resolve this?

Turbo Tax has me frustrated as heck. There's a place in my deductions where it asked me to provide how many miles I've driven this year (not a problem), and then it has a box asking for how many miles I drove for the job, and my total commuting miles. And yet when I click on the "More Info" box, it says I CAN'T deduct the mileage I drive to and from work.

SO WHY IS IT ASKING FOR THAT MILEAGE? If I fill it in with the applicable number, I get a bigger refund, but is that a mistake?

Yes, I know--I'm cutting things pretty close. Sorry. I do appreciate any help.

I need to know what happens if you do not pay what you owe when you turn in your tax forms since an extension doesn't help that. I don't owe very much but I have absolutely no form of income and don't have any money to pay. Don't say its because I'm lazy either, I have a panic disorder that keeps me from holding a job. Please, any advice on what to do? Thank you guys!

The 1099 from my broker shows the "cost basis summary" for these municipals. The paragraph heading reads "THIS IS NOT A 1099 FORM AND IS NOT REPORTED TO THE IRS". The dividends (short term) for these muni`s is shown under another paragraph titled "DIVIDEND INCOME -TAX EXEMPT".

This question is related to a recent notice that I received from the IRS asking me to provide the cost / sale information for these muni`s that another party had provided to them (I assume that was my broker supplying them the same 1099 that I received). This IRS notice is related to my 2005 1040 which did not include a Schedule D ( Capital Gains and Losses).

The "notice" is asking me to provide a Schedule D showing the cost/sale information. There is only about $91.00 difference.

The IRS says that I owe a large amount ( over 5k) because they took the sales price and added interest and penalties going back to 2005.
Is my broker to blame, should I send money along with copies of the 1099 to the IRS ? ?

Can I file as head of household if mother is living with me?

She receives my dad's pension after he passed, so I cannot claim her as a dependent because the pension is about $25,000 per year. But I pay all the living expenses including mortgage payment and food. She cannot take care of herself or live alone. I don't spend her money in case I need it for long term care or medical expenses in the future. I am single.
