We all live together now but my problem is that they want to move to the next state over because of problems with this house. I want to stay living in this state so that I can go to the college I want to go to. I'm already 18, if that should matter with anything. They're telling me I can't live in this state with someone else if they wanted to claim me on their taxes since I'd be living with another guardian.

My father and I are on the title of this house. He lives in his own house with his new family and runs a business there, but uses this address for tax deductions (the business used to be here). He tells his accountant this place is employee housing, but really it is where my husband and I live. We want to take over the mortgage, without his name on the loan, but he demands that he is dependant on this tax break, although the business is not run here nor are there employees of his living here.

I lived in my house for seven years. I moved in with someone else, gradually, over several months, while I was fixing up my house to put it on the market to rent. I changed the address on my driver's license at some point during that time and filed a change of address form at some point and eventually put the house up for rent.
Now I'm thinking about selling the house.
I know that to avoid capital gains tax on a property you have to have lived there for two out of the past five years, but how do I determine when that was? Do I go by tax return, date I rented it out, driver's license, change of address form...or what?

I have a friend who is married. They only supplied their tax preparer his W-2's and not hers. They made a deal with a cousin who did not work for the entire year that they would claim her two sons and my friends would pay her $1000.00. Their entire refund was well over $8000.00. What are the odds that they will get caught and if so what will probably happen?

I donated money to charities at work and didn't think I could deduct it as it was under $100 so I didn't get a receipt. Now my friend says that it is possible to deduct money given up to $600 w/o a receipt. Is this true?

I'm using the taxcut software. While it does say I could deduct premiums if I was with an Hmo, it is not clear if I can deduct my bluecross/blueshield payments which add up to over 4000 a year.
