This seems almost too easy.......I plug my info in to TurboTax as far as what I paid for books and such, and my refund goes thru the roof. I am estimating the book cost, however, and that makes me nervous. Will they ever ask for receipts? Any info on the Lifetime Education credit would be appreciated. Thanks!

I recently purchased a computer which crashed after I bought it and I returned it for a refund but was not refunded the sales tax I paid. I am in Nevada and it was purchased at a local retailer.

I've always done the taxes myself. He isn't paying child support or anything like that, and I live in the marital house with 2 of our 3 kids. (the oldest is 18 and on her own) I'm working 2 jobs to make ends meet. I was going to file "head of household" There are divorce papers that were filed in January.

I moved to Massachusetts from Iowa last October, and have W-2's from both states. Should I pay to have my taxes done by professionals or do them myself as I always have done? Is this going to cost me additional money to file for two states?

My ex and I divorced in 2006. The judge ordered that we file jointly for 2005. My ex didn't want to do that, so we filed separately. We also claimed the same kids. I got a letter from the IRS asking me to re do the tax (1040X) w/o the claims. I have already paid $2500. Now it will be another $1500 to $1800. Can I re submit the 2005 tax and re file jointly ?

Thanks

We moved to a house that had an extension built 4 years earlier we were not told by the estate agent or solicitor that theCouncil Tax will increase because of this. I have been in touch with the Valuation Agency to appeal, I wondered if anyone else has experienced a similar issue who could perhaps help.

I changed jobs in November. Got my W-2 from my previous employer, when looking at it I realized that they only withheld a very small amount of federal taxes. My state taxes had more withholdings. now I am going to have to pay all of those taxes, is there anything I can do?

I am helping my brother with his taxes, and he needs to claim his summer income from our dad because he put the money into his Roth IRA (smart kid!) and you are only allowed to put money into a Roth that is equal or less than your earned income. How does he claim this money as income without a W-2 or is there some sort of W-2 he can have our dad fill out for him to claim it. Its payment for building a retaining wall on his property and of course he has no tax id etc. Thanks!
