I have just turned 18 and my pay will be going up to £5.38 per hour. I generally work 16 hours per week but will be seeking more if I won't be taxed too much. I'm still in fulltime education I believe (University first year) if that affects anything.

Considering that EVERYTHING we buy has added VAT, what is it that is being paid, on top of the goods' value?

Say for instance if my local sports club, work, working mens club etc didnt have a tv licence surely if the patrons, employees do etc then that should be enough! Why is this not the case? Why should the licence fee be paid twice? If we pay the licence fee shouldnt we be able to see the yearly accounts and therefore see how much of it goes on wages?!!!! I wonder what European LAw has to say about the validity and legality of charging a licence fee in the UK?

to be more specific, I mean those that have paid into the nhs, or into a pension arent that much better off (it seems) than those that have never worked or paid into a pension, .... even there rent is paid....if there are any top financial experts out there. could enlighten me and other readers..... or is there no point in paying in at all... well I think you get the idea...cheers...

Would you be prepared to pay road tax only on the petrol you use? I would and let the pple who use the roads more, pay more tax, only fair I think. Put tax on petrol.
