I went to H&R last night...and the lady was too busy talking about her trip to pay attention to what she was entering and she entered my income wrong, and it stated that I only make $2000 a year..so it denied me..then she was like.."Oh, no" and tried to go back on the browser, to enter the info correctly. Once she did, they allowed her to continue, but at the very end, although they gave me the card, she said only $5.00 would be put on it..BUT lucky me..I can have my paycheck direct deposit...WHATEVER...has anyone had this happen, and can I have this somehow fixed..I should be eligible, and it is at the fault of the tax preparer...Also, how can I trust them to pay attention to what they are doing when they prepare my taxes if they have made such a SIMPLE airheaded mistake??? HELP

I have been hearing that there is no actual law to this effect.
Could this be true? Please cite the specific laws and supreme court rulings which are relevant, if you can.

I just got fired from my job today. The reason why is because I didn't give them my social security card number. I lied to them about my age. I told them I was 18 when in actuality I am only 15. Will they be able to pay me for the hours I worked?

Now, I recently work in lil' ceasars, but now I'm a nurse aid.
My problem was...
Will it be Okay if I fill-up the W-2 form with only the paystub from my nurse' aide job? even though I don't have my paystub when I worked in Lil' caesars?

Because I already ripped my paystub when I was working in Lil caesars (coz i hate that Job!!!!) and I didn't know the uses of a paystub on near future.

Hope you'll help me. thanks.

Would you let your pay check be taxed by 51 percent, if your recieved the following: free medical care, free education (university education included) but no taxes on food or clothing.
Keep in mind that there are countries that already do this. The Swiss, Cuba and Great Brittian have been doing it for years. They all have a lower death rate than the US.

Would you vote for it and why?

We are itemizing our medical expenses for 2007 due to exceeding the 7.5% of AGI for medical expenses. Can we prepay my wife's individual health insurance premiums for 2008, so that I get credit for them in 2007? The 12 month amount would be ~$1300 and will be paid for with aftertax dollars. We should not be itemizing next year. Thanks.

I'm just curious if you end up paying more in taxes if you get paid once a month as opposed to being paid every other week.

I am a full time student, graduating in June 2008. I have a job starting in August 2008 and I will be making $50,000 annually. Should I claim as an independent in 2008 for tax purposes or give my parents the advantages of claiming me as a dependent? (since I am under 23 and I guess I will still be considered a full time student for that tax year since I will be in school until June). Sorry if this is a little complicated.. thanks for the help... My main concern is paying income tax btw.

I'm receiving a $1,000 bonus but am not having taxes withheld. Since there is no deduction on a 1040 for FICA taxes how does the SS Admin collect the $1,000 X ((6.2% (SS) +1.45% (Med)) = $76.50? Is it imbedded within the tax table?
