As part of my divorce agreement my ex husband gets to claim my son every year on his taxes. My ex does not qualify to receive the EIC because he earns more than the max. amount. My son lives with me all year long. My question is am I able to claim my son for the EIC even though I don't claim him on my taxes?

I work for a major media company that deals with video games. I had to register a DBA in order to work for them for tax purposes. I work at home for this company so I would like to know what I can deduct when tax season comes around.

Since I work from home, I'm assuming that my internet bill, phone bill, electricity are all tax deductable. Another thing I had to buy was a PS3 because I will be receiving material to review for my job, so I was wondering how much of that cost I can deduct.

I also want to know if any video games that I purchase and my GameFly membership can be deducted at all?

Thanks!

socialist countries. in that case tax rates and tax laws should be drastically low and drastically simple. This is because capital formation is left to private sector ang government is a mere facilitator. Why then tax rates and administration are not
made light throughout world?why incur heavy expenditure in incime tax and ither tax administration?

I want to do a purse with special things on it, and no one has it anywhere (and sorry don't want to give it out for fear of copycat) and was wondering do I HAVE to HAVE a patent, and license. It would be a purse for making life easiter and convenient. No special names, or trademarks or logos necessary.

I mean I don't have $7,000 to spend on a patent, and attorney and other etc......

Tell me do I still need one?

I just cannot seem to get ahead of the game and am swimming in debt. I took out a loan which helped with some and even tried debt consoildation but couldn't afford the monthly payment. I'm thinking of withdrawing money from my IRA (not sure if some or all at this point) to pay off some debt). Is this a good idea? What are the reasons for early withdrawl without penalty?

My wife and I live in Texas. My wife's father died in April 2006. His estate was left to my wife and two siblings. The proceeds are divided evenly. He owned some land in Oregon that was sold last month. The beneficiaries were listed as the sellers of the property. It was not listed as my father-in-law's property, nor was it listed as belonging to his estate. Her share of the sale was just over $10,500. What is our federal tax liability on the sale of the house? What is our tax liability with Oregon, if any?

In 2005, I received a distribution from an IRA. The IRA was my mother's and she died in 2005. The money was somewhere between 16 and 17,000. I did not file a 2005 tax return. I want to do so asap and am curious as to whether or not I should expect any kind of a refund from this money??? Thanks very much!
