You will get more money by claiming Single with 8 allowances, than by claiming Married with 5 allowances.
Here is an example of with-holdings for weekly paychecks:
Withholdings on Weekly Pay $500, Single (8) - $0; Married (5) - $2.
Withholdings on Weekly Pay $600, Single (8) - $3; Married (5) - $12.
Withholdings on Weekly Pay $700, Single (8) - $13; Married (5) - $22.
Withholdings on Weekly Pay $800, Single (8) - $27; Married (5) - $33.
However, if you are married your status can't be Single. It can be Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately.

It would be a good idea to claim what you are really entitled to, so you aren't in trouble at tax time.
The answer to your question as stated depends on your income, but unless it's very high, there would be less deducted if you claim 8 single than if you claim 5 married.

Use this paycheck calculator link: http://www.paycheckcity.com/netpaycalc/netpaycalculator.asp
and you will be able to see exactly what you will get back depending on what you put on the form--you can play around with it and see the differences too. I would do it for you but I don't know what your salary is or the State you live in!
