Hi everybody,
I'm filing married joint w/ my wife (first time doing this) on a 1040A. Anyway, for standard deductions of 10,300 do I subtract that from my salary, then subtract it from her salary, or do I add both our salaries and subtract 10,300 only once? Same question with exemptions (6,600 once or twice?)
Thanks,
Scott

When you withdrawl it to move out of state or something, does the government still keep 25% of it, or do you get it all since you paid it in

How much will be on average deducted from my paycheck to include federal taxes, income taxes and any other taxes in NC? In Texas we do not pay state income tax so my check is "bigger" than NC all things equal. 20%, 30%? Help?

1) The 16th was not ratified
2) 26 U.S.C. § 1 does not ever mention tax on a person's labor.
3) The definition of Income from a 1040 booklet is Foreign source income.
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf Look at page 22.

Also if you look at what to enter on line 7, it says wages, tips, salaries.... If a joint return enter your spouses INCOME.

Well my spouse has no income because they have not Foreign source income.

As for being part of the constitution, my freedom of religion is Christianity. Jesus asked peter from who do the kings of the land collect taxes from it's own sons or foreigners?. Peter replied "From foreigners".

Can't my freedom of religion keep me also from paying INCOME taxes.

And yes, I know, I know, they'll come and get me anyway and bring me to jail etc etc. That's called extortion BTW which is illegal.

My brother died about 2 weeks ago, and a couple days ago we all began settling the death benefit and all of the paper work, and so on. He was a Marine, so that's why it was such a big amount. My brother assigned my mother to be the beneficiary if anything ever happened to him, and it did. I heard that sometimes, a check can be taxed over 40%, which is outrageous. In a few weeks, my mom will recieve the $400,000, at which she was planning on writing out a check of $397,000 ish to give to his now widdowed wife, keeping $3,000 to pay for a few extra funeral costs. By default, she was already given $100,000 simply for being his wife. When she gets her half a million, will she be losing 40% to taxes? That's a $200,000 loss, simply by taxes. That's enough to survive 7 years if your smart about it, and they cannot take that much away. She has a 2 month old baby now too. Is there a method of transfer that doesnt show up on income tax, or something? I hope you guys can help! Good luck!
-Andrew

I got an increase in pay, but the amount they're taking is rediculous! I am single and claiming "3" on my W4.

1. Is this normal and correct?
2. Will I get a lot back when I file my taxes?

My estranged spouse claimed head of household for tax year 2006 and I claimed our child. She states that we will alternate this arrangement after the divorce, how does this work since it seems that you must claim the child in order to claim the head of household status?

Here it is a question regarding for the tax, last year, I hired a seasonal worker for me, and paid about $1200 for him, but since he is only working for about one month, I forgot to mention this to accountant, and no 1099 was filed.
Recently, I like to hire him back again, and ask him whether he filed tax return last year, he said he did, I think I may need to give him a 1099, but can not find anywhere.
Question is, can I still file 1099 for him ( for year 2006), if I can, what kind of procedure I should go through, is there any kind of penalty from IRS and state (NY state) ?
Thanks.

I am thinking of starting a small in home business. I would only make about $15,000-$20,000 per year. How much would I have to pay to taxes on that? I know that I could keep my receipts and use those as deductables, but please dont include that in your answer, just let me know about how much I would have to pay out at the end of the year. Thanks yall!!
