How much will be on average deducted from my paycheck to include federal taxes, income taxes and any other taxes in NC? In Texas we do not pay state income tax so my check is "bigger" than NC all things equal. 20%, 30%? Help?

You can figure anywhere between 20% - 25%. That is everything included. NC is tax happy. They also tax your vehicle yearly and in the city of Raleigh your licensed dog is taxed. Above and beyond the license fee.
Try this link. It is the NC Dept of Revenue. You can get all your information there.

If you itemize deductions, then Judy is wrong. Because of the deduction for state taxes (you can deduct NC income tax instead of deducting sales tax, but you cannot deduct both income tax and sales tax), your federal income tax will be different. If you take the standard deduction, then your federal tax will not be affected, except that you may be able to claim moving expenses, but only if you find a new job that is at least 50 miles farther from your old home in TX than your old job in TX was from your old home in TX. (Of course, any job in NC is at least 50 miles farther from anywhere in TX than your commute in TX probably was.)

The federal taxes will stay the same. North Carolina income tax is 6%-8% depending on your income, but there are some deductions from your income before calculating the tax.

NC income tax is seven (7) percent, with variances and exemptions. As your deduction will be adjusted for the exemptions you claim on your W-2, it will be less than seven percent.
