The rules vary by state. Most of the time, you have to have had a certain level of income in each of the last two quarters, and they don't count the current quarter.

In the state of Washington you are eligible the first week you are laid off, but you will have to put in your wait week which you will not get paid for.If you quit you will have to wait 5 weeks to be elgible. as for how long. it depends on how many hours you put in ,there is a minimum
