My son (16 years old) wants to enter the work force and does NOT want to have anything to do with the Social Security System. He is very socially astute and feels that SS contributions are a poor investment and he would see little or no return as the system gradually goes bankrupt over the next 50 years. Back when I was a young and naive new father, he was automatically issued an SSN when he was born along with a bunch of other hospital papers. He knows that Social Security is a voluntary program and he was illegally entered into the program since he was underage and could not give his authorization to be a member. How does he rescind his SSN and how can he be employed without an SSN? He has no issue paying State and Federal income taxes. Can he be employed with a TIN?

My 2003 income tax was incomplete and needed to be filed by April 15th, 2007 but I didn't get around to filing it until late May/early June because I didn't have the fee for HR Block. IRS says I don't owe(am due a refund) but that the Statute of Limitations Law allows me to file up to 3 years late, and I was 3 months over(so, they're holding it)... I talked to an IRS attendant & she gave me the address to write to the IRS Service Center/collections. She suggests that I don't just say that I forgot or that I didn't know, b/c "ignorance of the law is no excuse", as she stated. So now the IRS is holding my return money from that year, but I really need it asap. ARE THERE ANY EXCEPTIONS TO THAT LIMITATIONS LAW which I could use in my letter. It was an honest mistake but it doesn't give them the right to keep my hard earned money. Some1 plz help ASAP. Maybe you know of the limitations laws and can enlighten me on what would possibly work?? Maybe my situation alone was good enough?

I am sure I have been charged too much tax, paricularly recently and I have heard that instead of going to the tax office you can actually send a letter and deal with it all by post.
My questions are: is it possible to do it by post? if so, what do i write in the letter? and third of all, where do I send the letter to?.
Many thanks!!!!

I have been getting paid and im unsure if it's considered short term disability or Workmans Comp. I no longer work for the company and im unable to work. It's been a year and i have been living off the checks. I don't receive as much as i made before with taxes taken out. So if im not paying taxes now (which isn't shown on the checks i get) there is no way i could put money away to pay taxes at the end of the year. Please help i hope im not in a hole at the end of the year
