No, if you are claimed as a dependent you cannot in turn claim someone else as your dependent. It don't work that way. Your mother should be able to claim your son as her dependent though.

No you can't - a dependent can't claim a dependent. But your mother can very likely claim your son as a dependent as well as claiming you, assuming that you all live together.

Let your mother claim two dependents. I'm just assuming that you both lived with her in her house. Who provides the most suport? But, if you are working, more than likely you might be entitile to receive your tax withholdings that has been taken out of your pay so far this year. You would file your taxes without claiming yourself or you son. Something to look at when it is tax time.

They would find out that 2 separate dependents are filed for the same address. Your mother, however, can claim 2 dependents.

No. Either your mom claims you both, or she claims neither and you claim yourself and your son. A dependent cannot claim a dependent.
And actually, if your son lives with his own mother and they do not reside with you, she gets to claim the child.

no, sorry. your mother can claim him as a dependent though. it wouldn't make any sense if you could since you are dependent on somebody else yourself.
