I am sure I have been charged too much tax, paricularly recently and I have heard that instead of going to the tax office you can actually send a letter and deal with it all by post.
My questions are: is it possible to do it by post? if so, what do i write in the letter? and third of all, where do I send the letter to?.
Many thanks!!!!

If you are employed then write to the tax office shown on your latest notice of coding. If you have lost this then ask your employer for the details.

If you are self-employed (or in the self assessment regime for some other reason) then the tax office will be shown on your tax return.

If you have not kept any paperwork just ring the tax helpline (find the number on www.hmrc.gov.uk ) and ask them.

I can't tell you what to write as you have given no clue as to why you think you are paying too much tax.
