I filed taxes last year throughthe mail.I recieved my state refund but not me federal. When i called everyone I could think of they said they never got it.I called for months and kept giving dofferent numbers to call but still no answers or refund.I don't owe taxes .Can I file last year federal this year without being penalized or they will penalize me anyway.I heard we have two years to file before getting penalized. Is that true? I sent it off because state got theirs but why didn't the federal get to its destination.

I sold it for $3500, but kelly bluebook said it was worth $6400. It was paid off. Do I report this as "other income" on line 21? Report it in a schedule d? Is it taxable at all since I sold it for less than it was worth? How does this work?

I worked for 3 lawyers and they each paid me separately. One of them never even notified the government that I was an employee. Chances are she isn't going to follow through with anything. It's only about $1,200.

OK. TECHNICALLY I WAS UNEMPLOYED ALL YEAR LAST YEAR, BUT I DID WATCH MY SISTER'S BABY DAILY FOR 8 MONTHS AND SHE PAID ME WEEKLY TO DO SO. I WANT TO USE THIS INCOME TO FILE TAXES THIS YEAR, BECAUSE I GENERALLY RECEIVE A REFUND DUE TO MY INCOME AND DEPENDANTS. SO MY QUESTION IS HOW DO I GO ABOUT DOING THIS? WHAT INFO DO I NEED TO FILE USING THIS INCOME? IS THIS POSSIBLE? IF SO, HOW DO I DO IT?

I have significant mortgage interest paid in 2006 on my home and all of my income was subcontractor (1099) income.

In 2005, my tax preparer told me I couldn't deduct the mortgage interest on 1099 income but now several people have told me that I can.

Which is it? Can I deduct the mortgage interest against my sub contractor income?

Thanks!

My daughter just turned 17 on dec 27 and has been working at her job for around 3 months. But she has had other job last year.

She is a dependent on my taxes and I recieve Earned Income Credit for her and her son.

My question is does she file taxes this year, She thinks she may have made over 4 or 5 thousand but has not gotten her W2's back yet.

My other quesion is how will it effect my Earned Income Credit? I know she is still a dependent on my taxes this year but I want to know if my Earned Income Credit will go down.?

Also, what are the different amount that you have to make with federal and/or state. ?

I take online classes and am just curious what the difference normally is for the tax refund with classes. I claim myself and make around 24000 a year. Thank you! I am basically looking for a percentage of what you would get back from online tuition.....

I have a few online games, and sell stuff on the games for $$$ in USD. This is my own personal small business (trying to be), and I'm canadian. So I'm wondering what do I tax? Like do I tax each item I sell on the game, or just tax the amount that gets withdrawled into my account.

Do I even need to start a business? I'm very lost, been developing games since I was a kid, and now im 21 and don't understand taxes, last month I made over $15,500.

I am a partner in a small private investigations company. Our business requires alot of driving and we (my partner and I) use our personal vehicles to do this. The partnership has reimbursed us for mileage driven and I want to know where to show this expense. Do we need to show this reimbursement as income and then show the mileage on a schedule C? Is there another way? Can this be entered into an expense line on the Form 1065? The majority of the mileage we are reimbursed for is a direct cost.

Thanks,
Cody

Unfortunately, I screwed up. I have already filed my 2006 tax return and it has been accepted by the irs and is expected to be here by the 30th. Problem is at the time, I was fine with that. Now something major has come up and I HAVE to have the money by the 26th. A lot of places do refund loans but that is while they are filing your taxes. Since I personally have already filed, does anybody know anywhere that will give me a loan with my irs status and papers without filing my taxes for me?

I was sent a Form 511 & 538-S in the mail along with my 1040EZ(Which I've decided to do myself this year) Do I need to fill out this state form? I've looked on my W2 and it says it took out $500.00 from State income tax. But most of the time, don't you end of paying state taxes? I've never heard of anyone getting their state tax back... (By the way my wages this year were 15,186.99 if that helps anyone!)
