My hubby and I like getting a lot back each time tax season comes around, its kind of like getting a bonus for us. We have been filing as married filing separate, but wondering if we are losing out on a lot? For example, I can't deduct student loans when we file separate. Also, since I started my last job (4 months) I have put "married" instead of the usual married but separate. Did I just totally screw up our taxes? We use Turbotax each year and it always asks how we filed. Not sure how to put that I filed two different ways this year (2 different jobs). Would appreciate some advice!

If climate change is caused by things like CO2 and methane, then why don't we apply a small tax to the causes and apply that money to the solution? If someone like James E. Hansen - the top NASA climate scientist - is saying we have only 10 years to stabilize emissions, wouldn't a carbon tax be a sensible thing to do? Or should we just sit like frogs in the frying pan?

Some taxes have a more positive effect on the economy, while others are a drag. Which are the most efficient? Corporate, personal income, consumption, behavior modifying (gas, energy, alcohol) or others?

Please only educated responses. Thanks.

I had to use my debit at the doctor today and that would put me behind. I am just hoping the gov doesn't try to cash the check tomorrow. I get paid tomorrow night, so I'm cool after that. Do you guys think they put a check through in as little as one week (or less)?

Hello,

I was just wondering if I could talk to the American Accountants who has worked in Australia. I'm graduating soon and moving to Australia. I just wanna know your experience was? The difficulties you encountered? How did you land up an accounting job with an American degree? How should I prepare myself to practice accounting? Will I get the proper training or are they just going to throw everything and expect me to know everything?

I'm very nervous. It would be great if you can share your experiences and suggest something for myself?

Thank you!

I will pay the loan out in 18 months. The loan amout was $30,000. I only recv'd about 300 a paycheck for the last year. Since I am getting paid that low amount instead of my $1500 a check, Is there somewhere when filing my return that I can add to to help my return amount? I am paying 8% interest on this loan. Kind of confusing but I am very curious. Earn Income Maybe? Is there a place on my w-2 that my employer should put this loan amont instead of income? I know that this is confusing but I need help!
