I had to use my debit at the doctor today and that would put me behind. I am just hoping the gov doesn't try to cash the check tomorrow. I get paid tomorrow night, so I'm cool after that. Do you guys think they put a check through in as little as one week (or less)?

It's very possible that the check will have been put through by now. If you mailed it Wednesday, they probably got it Friday, processed it then or today. If you get really lucky, it might not go through until tomorrow, so if your paycheck is in the bank then, you might be OK.

If you're running close financially, wait to mail your return next time. There's no advantage in mailing it before mid-April if you owe. Even if you're talking about quarterly estimated taxes, they're not due for another several days.

They may make the deposit, but it will take 2-5 days for their banks to process it, then it will go to your bank for payment, which may be another 2-3 days. I think you're safe.

If you can, take your payroll check to the bank it's drawn on (unless out of state) and cash it. Return to your bank to make the deposit...then with cash, there's no hold...but do that cash and deposit before 3:30 p.m. as that is the cut off.

Normally it takes two to three week before the check is processed. Being an early filer may work against you however.
