Hi guys, right im writing this arguement 'why its right to tax the rich a higher percentage when they earn other a certain amount then the percentage you get taxed under a certain amount. I think its like 20% below 30k, 40% above? Anyway could you post some reasons why it right to do it? I need to persaude someone who feels it is not right to tax differently as the rich have earnt their money. Whilst i agree, i have fundamental ideas, which i make me feel it is fair to an extent. I feel it creates more equality, and despite the common fact that noone no matter what they earn, wants to be taxed more; but quite honestly it is right to tax those more who can afford it? a fundemental idea of mine to back this up, is if taxes were all the same percentage, then for the government to bring in the same amount of revenue, they would have to increase the tax, meaning the lower earners suffered more from increased taxes, so surely its morally right tax high earners more? Thanks for ur view!

I've been looking for work on-line and have received alot of offers from UK companies looking for people to use their checking accounts as a way of changing money for a 10% payout fee. Is this a scam? What am I not seeing here? I'm of the school that if it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I really need my tax refund ASAP. I have a simple return, and the only item I lack is the 1099-G form from my state (NC) that shows some unemployment insurance benefits I received last year. That state office reports that they won't have these forms out to recipients or available on their website until January 31st. Reporting this income made absolutely no difference when I did my 1040 online, because my total income for last year was so low, and I'm a single mom, head of household. I know the amount I received in benefits, and that I paid no taxes on it, but the 1040 asks for other identifying info and numbers that I don't have. Can I just leave the UIB off the return, or put it somewhere else on the 1040?

Specifically, how do I handle a tax form for a refund that my ex and I received from our state of Georgia 2005 return. I know that it must be counted as income. The problem is that we filed jointly last year and now we must file as singles. The tax form shows both of our names but only his SSS number. I am willing to count the income as mine but I am concerned that he may be held accountable at some point because it is tied to his SSS number. Any help will be greatly appreciated! As I mentioned above, the state tax refund is from Georgia.

I'm in the military. My wife and I are from different states. When we got a new assignment, I kept my home state residency and pay my taxes there (cheaper), while she has to pay taxes in the new location. Would like to make her a resident of my state to save some money on taxes, but can't tell if it's legal or feasible.
