Call the department of employment (Empoyment Development Department EDD), they will ask you for your SSA # and can pull up your employment records. Once you know who you worked for then you can contact them and request a W-2. The other thing to do is to call the IRS, they should have copies or transcripts of your W-2's or Tax returns and they can fax or mail it to you. If all you need is the record of employment, the department of employment should be enough, just call them, and they can mail you your employment record.

You can go to irs.gov and request a copy of all reporting agencies in 1999. They will have the list of businesses that sent them a W-2. You can then use that information or if you need an actual W2, contact the companies and ask them for a copy. Don't be suprised if they want to charge you a fee for getting that copy for you. Also, the IRS charges a fee as well, I think it is about $50 now.

You need to find all your past tax returns. Who did your taxes. If you used a service, like turbo tax you may have a historical file on your computer on on their web site.
