Why should someone put money into a Roth IRA when there is no guarantee that the Congress will not take away the tax benefit in 10, 15, or 20 years? It taxed now when you put the money in and could be taxed again when it is disbursed in the future.

I've paid over 2k in Taxes. It's me and my two kids. But Oregon has their own taxes that are taken directly out of the paycheck.
I am filing head of household with my kids as dependants.
Anyone know how much that would be?

I bought my first home about 6 months ago. I make around 50k per year. I usually claim single 0 on my W4. After I bought my house, I claimed single 2 just so I could have a little more disposable income and put some home improvements in. Now that we're about to get our W2's, I wanted to know if I'm going to wind up owing money to the government because of the switch on my W4?

I just returned from a trip to Asia and bought some lottery tickets. As expected I didn't win a dime. I got to thinking though, if I had won, would I have had to claim it on my federal income tax? Just wondering, does anybody know? Thanks.

we want to move somewhere for 6 months and so only want to pay it for that long, and then after that we might go abroad. Do you have to pay for whole year (cant see why as it would be unfair) or is there a special scheme??

According to the rules , I can file Head of House because I cover more than 1/2 of my parents expenses. I could claim them as dependants, but I don't want to. Can I still file Head of House without listing them as dependants?
