If you earn above £97 a week (the 'earnings threshold') and up to £645 per week you pay 11 per cent of this amount as 'Class 1' NICs
If you also pay one per cent of earnings above £645 a week as Class 1 NICs.

My question is: are these amounts (£97 and £645) earnings AFTER income tax has been deducted, or BEFORE income tax has been deducted?

Hey, I got a question....

I got offered a job by a questionable marketing co., however, they told me my comission chechs would be given to me tax-free and that I would be the one having to my my own taxes at the end of the year, basically making me self-employed. My concern is that if in the end their marketing techinques were to be found dishonest, people like myself would end up in trouble, since there's practically no affiliation between me and my "empolyer". ****, they didnt even ask me for my SIN #. Is that even legal ???

Trying to work out what percentage of tax I am paying. If I am paid $52.00 for 4 hrs work, and end up with $43.53 after tax, how much tax am I paying? I know I paid $8.47 but what does that work out to as a percentage? How much percent am I paying per $1.00? Thanks for any help.
Also if you can tell me how on earth I work this out on a calculator for future reference that would be great. Not too flash on my math skills.

Do I just do my state tax for the times I was in each state and then one for federal (3 separate forms in all)? Or is it different b/c the majority of the time I was in GA? Do I get extra W-2's that show the amount earned in each state (husband is military so obviously its the same employer)? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am starting at a new hair salon in ohio. she is keeping 50 % of my services, plus $10 for maintaining equipment. She is not, however, withholding any taxes, social security, or anything. If she is keeping half the money and I am not an independent contractor, doesn't she have to withhold something?

I chose 3 exemptions for this year. I make under 30,000 and every tax estimator program I use claims that I will own money this year. I have been using the standard deduction amount, not what I believe my actual deductions are.

I want to take advantage of medical tax deductions which I know should exceed 7.5%. Does anyone know, do I need every receipt for every visit or will a whole list of all the claims and my co-pays from the Insurance Company be enough? What can one do if the receipts are not all available?

This is a two part question: 1.)A buisness owner must pay employee taxes. If the employer did not know the the SS# was fraudulant, who keeps the unclaimed tax money paid by the employer and the taxes taken from employee checks? I know that unclaimed social security goes into an account.
2.) If interest is accumulating on this unclaimed social security why is social security going bankrupt when there are millions of illegal aliens who are not claiming it?
