I received a check in the mail and it appears to be real but I don't want to cash it if it is a scam. A letter with the check says that is part of a grant that I have won. And the check that is enclosed is to cover legal fees. But they want me to cash it then send a portion of it to an agent who will then release the remainder of the funds which will be delivered within 5 business days via courier.

My best friend just bought an expensive car! She owes like $30,000 on it! She said she went with the lowest intrest rate she found, and now she is afraid she cant afford the vehicle. I told her to sell it but she has like $10,000.00 neg. equity! She now is trying to figure out a way to total the vehicle because her loan covers the remaining cost if the car that the insurance doesn't pay (her neg. equity), and the insurance covers the rest. In other words she owes nothing. I don't know what to tell her!?! Please help. Should I help her come up with ways to total the car, or what other ways can I go about this situation?

I am still a teenager and I am not proud to say I am spoiled. I get anymost anything I want. I would like to know if I saved up some money as a kid a few thous would it really help out in the longshot as an adult. Or do you think its fine that im living out my teenage years buying the xbox having a nice t.v. and all the stuff I want. Basicly this is my question. Do you think its stupid that i keep spending money on things like my t.v., i phone, snowboard, xbox games and not saving money or do you think its fine that im using most of my money for now and i will assure you once i am on my own i will have my own job and wont get any money from my parents and wont spend anything and will save them. I know right now i have about 20 grand is that good right now or am i behind and i should start saving up?

What decision would you make in this situation?
I get $643/month, my rent is 1/2 my income, I pay $60 in electricity & $100 in food. $20 for laundry, $30 for a prepaid phone cardwith 300 minutes, & about $15 for cab service, lugging those groceries. I'm mentally disabled & go to college-I have my BA-Spanish degree, but I have a weak GPA, so I'm taking extra courses to try to get into grad school. I don't like Spanish Lit, but that's all they offer. I want to translate & interpret. I'm desperate for work, but no one wants to hire me because they say I appear mentally slow b/c of my movements & mannerisms. They think I'm retarded & don't know any better. They also won't hire me because of my weight. I have other necessssities that I can't have because of lack of money. If you were in my situation, would you quit your current school & try to go to T&S school out of state, quit school PERIOD & try to find work, or stick to a Grad major of a field you're not interested in & stay poor? I don't know what's the best decision. What else?

***T&S means TRANSLATION & INTERPRETING school. Should I pursue a Certificate in California @ Cal State-Los Angeles, Expensive Grad program @ Monterey Institute-$40,000/yr. tuition in California where I can get a MASTER's in my DESIRED career field, OR stay here @ University of North Texas in Denton, kind of rural town with not much job opportunity & extremely limited transportation, majoring in something I don't have interest in, which is why my GPA is so low in the first place?

Ok, so my 11 year old wants a bank account how old do you have to be? She has a savings account but she doesn't use it. She is mature enough to handle a "card".

Also how does she make money? Like $20 dollars a week? And don't tell me that I should give it to her!

I was recently laid off and cannot make my mortgage payments. My financial counselor has not been able to secure an equity loan or refinance due to my poor credit rating and the lender's say that the house needs too much work. It has now been suggested to me that i let an investor buy the house. I would receive some money up front, the investor would make the monthly payments while making repairs to the house. When the house was ready to be sold I would receive additional money. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this program and whether it is a good deal for someone like me?

I think my friend wrote me a bad check that I cashed for her and it bounced but she denies that. She says that she has enough funds for the check to go through. Would I be able to go to her bank and ask them if her check bounced or what's going on with her check? It's causing me more problems than I can handle right now !

I wrote a check to pay my rent. Today I called my bank to check my balance and they said that i had a negative available balance and that the check will be returned tonight. How long will it take for my leasing office to be notified about the returned check. I have most of the money to pay the rent again, but not all of it, and i will have it next week.

I feel bad because this is the first time i had this happen to me, and I should have been more careful about checking my account balance and making sure i had all the money :-(

On the statement it shows the loan balance but it shows it with all of the interest added in already and says *Not a payoff balance call for details. So I was wondering how to figure it out myself? It shows total balance of 1100 at 24% interest with 6 mos left. So if I wanted to pay if off right now what would it be?

My husband was married before and has been divorced for about 3 years. We tried to get accounts or loans together but he is unable to get any due to the fact that she is defaulting on credit cards they had when they were together. When they divorced he took out a loan to pay her his half of the debt. She did not pay off the cards and his credit sucks. Yesterday we got a bill of hers in the mail that is still in his name. I cannot get through to him how angry this makes me. Our credit is suffering because of her and the fact that we got this bill in his name and in care of her really makes me angry. Why didn't one of them make calls to get his name off? What do I do to get through to him and try to get his credit cleared up? I have no idea what household bills are still in his name and neither does he. She is always late on all her credit cards. We don't have a copy of his divorce papers becuase he gave them to her when she lost her copy. Any ideas?
