What decision would you make in this situation?
I get $643/month, my rent is 1/2 my income, I pay $60 in electricity & $100 in food. $20 for laundry, $30 for a prepaid phone cardwith 300 minutes, & about $15 for cab service, lugging those groceries. I'm mentally disabled & go to college-I have my BA-Spanish degree, but I have a weak GPA, so I'm taking extra courses to try to get into grad school. I don't like Spanish Lit, but that's all they offer. I want to translate & interpret. I'm desperate for work, but no one wants to hire me because they say I appear mentally slow b/c of my movements & mannerisms. They think I'm retarded & don't know any better. They also won't hire me because of my weight. I have other necessssities that I can't have because of lack of money. If you were in my situation, would you quit your current school & try to go to T&S school out of state, quit school PERIOD & try to find work, or stick to a Grad major of a field you're not interested in & stay poor? I don't know what's the best decision. What else?

***T&S means TRANSLATION & INTERPRETING school. Should I pursue a Certificate in California @ Cal State-Los Angeles, Expensive Grad program @ Monterey Institute-$40,000/yr. tuition in California where I can get a MASTER's in my DESIRED career field, OR stay here @ University of North Texas in Denton, kind of rural town with not much job opportunity & extremely limited transportation, majoring in something I don't have interest in, which is why my GPA is so low in the first place?

***I asked this in the education section, but no one wanted to help me, & also there were too many questions posted after me, so people can't see my question. That's why I reposted it in a different section. I need help with my financial situation.

You know the government is really messed up. You have disability because you are too disabled to work, but they do not give you enough to live on. That is not your fault.

I think a few people misunderstood your question. Some peple think you "appear" mentally slow - however you are NOT mentally slow, so you do not need a college for mentally slow people.

A T & S school sounds interesting. That would be a good consideration if that is what you want to do. Would there be a possibility that you could get that paid for as a vocational rehab to get off disability?

From what I know of you from Y!A, I think you would make a great teacher but that of course would have to be something you would need to be interested in.

To answer your question, I do not know what decision I would make. You are really in a rough situation.

Our country (which I love ) sends money to those in need in other countries but leaves people in your situation without any options.

If your rent is half your income, you can't afford wherever you are living. You also can't afford long distance calls. I don't know what a cab costs in your area, but I couldn't make a one way trip to the nearest grocery store for $15. Spending money for an education you don't want is never smart. You need to find a career counselor you can talk to IN PERSON.

First see if you can get food stamps to help with the food bill. I would find a college that you really are interested in and that has the courses you want.
If school is that hard try going part time days or nights.

The first thing you should do is to systematize your priorities. You seem to be jumping from financial concerns to career to your mental abilities then to your physical attributes. The way you asked your question doesnt indicate that you are mentally slow..you even know your math. Secondly, segregate whats urgent and whats important..if you always run after whats urgent in your life, it will be on crisis after another. Take it slow..one step at at time..you will see that life has so much to offer..dont be in a hurry...and read desiderata once in a while..be happy. God Loves You

You shouldn't try to become popular, especially if it means you're faking things just so people will like you. If it were me, I would just tell them the truth. Tell them that you don't like this girl, maybe play it off and say that you were just joking with whoever it was you were talking to at the time. Or, if you want to get to the down right truth, do that, even if you have to tweak it a little. Say she was just the first person you could think of without telling the truth. Whatever you do, you shouldn't try to be someone you aren't. Make friends with people who like you for who you really are, not just because they think you're popular or one of the cool kids. And just for a little relationship advice, most girls don't go after the popular ones because most of the time, they just end up being so absorbed in what everyone thinks that it takes away everything that made them great in the first place. Be yourself and stop lying to people. Open up and there will be someone who will like you for your true personality.
